Rumors are in that the Airport Extreme will be in stores as early as tomorrow at some stores and by this weekend at others. My ship date moved from the Feb 28th to Feb 14th. A nice Valentine's Day gift from Apple.
Rumors also have it that the Apple TV will be arriving a couple weeks earlier as well.

Airport Extreme Basestation Ships!
Well, that's what some sites are saying. I ordered mine the evening of the keynote, so it wasn't immediately after they were available, but pretty close. The last I checked, my ship date was still February 28th. I'm looking to see some speed improvements since I am currently using a 802.11b unit that was originally configured for Windows about 5 years ago. I have never run any software from the manufacture to configure it with my Mac Pro, iMac and Mac Mini. I'm hoping that the Airport Extreme will work better for me since it's Apple.
I know my neighbors will appreciate the better coverage since 802.11n is 5 times faster and has a 2 times longer range than 802.11b. They should be able to use their Vista boxes in the basement if they wish. Since we are new to the neighborhood and not that familiar with all the neighbors, maybe I better lock the network down. I know it's not very neighborly, but I don't want to get in trouble for someone else's surfing. I've read that the networking setup and security that comes with the Extreme is very simple and quite powerful. I look forward to playing around with the setup.
I hope Apple is ahead of schedule as well on the Apple TV as I also ordered that on the day of the keynote. 802.11n is needed to properly stream video wirelessly, hince the timing of the updated Airport Extreme. The Extreme will also solve some printing issues we've been having as I will be able to network my printer using the Airport Extreme. I look forward to watching video pod casts such as Digg and hopefully having the ability to stream my home movies to my big screen. Hopefully, more functionality will come in the way of software updates, like ordering movies and music right from the Apple TV.

Apple Inc. Is Playing Nice
So on the day that Vista is released, Apple introduces a handfull of colorful changes to the iPod Shuffle. That's it?! No performance improvements listed, no size increase, nothing. Just colors. So this is the new Apple Inc.? Give me back the ruthless, secretive, sneaky Apple Computer Inc. please. And give me my widescreen, touchscreen iPod. NOW!
The U.S. Apple Store is down.
I'm not sure when they took it down, but as predicted on a few sites, Tuesday, January 30th will be a day of fresh Apples. Check back in a little bit to see what the update is all about? Will they surprise us with widescreen, touchscreen iPods?
